In this activity we got some white string and 4
other colorful pieces of ribbon. The goal of this project was to make a
measurement of your digestive tract. We had to measure how tall we were, our
finger span, the span from our lip to the end of our jaw line. In the final
product we should have ended with things long string that should be about the
size of our digestive tract because everyone’s tract is different based on the
measurements you got above.

The length of your digestive system is similar
to your height but it’s just about 4x the size. I think the digestive system
that I made would fit almost perfectly saying that I made the measurements
properly.
3.
I think it would take about 3-4 hours for food
to move completely through my digestive tract. When I looked online the average
time it takes for food to move through someone’s digestive system is 6-8 hours.
It varies on how much you eat. According to LIVESTRONG, the more fiber you eat
it will move though your tract quicker, Caffeine tends to slow down your
digestive system as well as some drugs whether it is prescription or not. Your
food will also pass through your system quicker with physical activity.
4.
Digestion is different from absorption in that digestion
is the breaking down of food where absorption is when the body absorbs
nutrients. Absorption is in the small intestines, and digestion is in the
stomach.
5.
Other questions I have about the
digestive system are sometimes after we eat food and it doesn’t sit well with
us we feel the urge to throw up. My question is what makes us throw up?
